Jakob Marsico + Eddy Man Kim
For the Spring 2018, we propose a new course that explores the relationship between light, material and space. Through a series of studies dealing with light, technology and materials, students will develop a fluency in designing expressive form and lighting scenarios.
The course will progress thusly:
- Introduction to properties of light and material studies
- Static lighting through translucent and reflective materials and volumes
- Material, color, positioning
- Natural Light Manipulation
- Shadow Control
- Leveraging a moving sun
- Dynamic lighting through translucent and reflective materials
- DMX controlled lighting
- Scale models + full scale tests
- Projector as light source
- Touch Designer (free software)
- Pico projectors (Ideate course budget?) + scale models
- Interactive | Responsive Scenarios
